Why are there $1 charges on my credit card?

These are pending pre-authorization charges that are used to see if your card can be used before you are charged. Multiple failed attempts to pay may result in multiple of these $1 charges.

These charges are temporary. You will not be charged for these in your credit/debit card statement.
